Airfix Magazine in Norwegian

At the model railway club I'm a member I recenently found a really old magazine someone brought to our 'liberary' at some time. It was an old issue of an Airfix Magazine. Whats special about it was that it was issued in Norwegian. I've found that they were issued in Norwegian from January 1964, but don't know for how long. I'm not sure if the Norwegian issues was similar or corresponding to the British ones? Perhaps someone know?

Airfix Magazine and Airfix Hobbymagasin
Less than £ 2 for subscription for a year. It would still be cheaper to buy each magazine individually  at the newsagent or hobby shop though:

It looks like the H0/00 Tiger tank was new in 1964.

Robin Hood and his Merry Men:

An article about how to kitbash Airfix structures for both model railways and wargaming. I really like these kitbashing suggestions:

I hope you enjoyed this brief 'blast from the past' as much as I did.

  1. I still have mine, but I think it was more the 1970s when I got them. James

    1. Nice. Do you also have the same copy just in English as well?

    1. The cover actually states 'Scandinavian issue', so I have no idea if these magazines also was issued in Sweden and Denmark too.

    3. Indeed and some of it was good modelling cross over for Wargamers and Railway enthusiasts.

  4. On a side issue, Roger, the early 1970s articles on how to convert ACW 20mm figures must have influenced a generation of British wargamers. I still remember when a school friend gave me a handful of these magazines........ it is all very nostalgic to see their bold red cover (even if yours is in Norwegian!).

    1. Was those Airfix ACW figures converted into AWI Light Infantry as you've mentioned in another blogpost, or was there even more ways to convert them? I know the Union soldiers with Kepis can at least pass as Norwegian early 20th Century infantry. -But then you'll have no opposing forces though....
If you find these old magazines nostalgic, check the link added by Maudlin Jack Tar in his comment. Very interesting.
Thanks for reading and commenting Michael.

    2. Believe it or not, I converted Airfix British Grenadiers using plasticine covered in superglue to construct the caps..... daft really! This would have been in about 1975? Then I went over to Spencer Smith in about 1977, and then Hinchliffe and Garrison 25mm metal in about 1978. Yes, I will be viewing some magazines using the LOC site which MJT suggested.

    3. Sounds like cool conversions. I hope you kept some of your old figures both converted ones and unmodified.
