A cozy evening in the garden

G-scale trains and 1:24 scale radio controlled tanks.

Even though it's autumn and late in the Garden Railway season, there are still some days where the weather is so fine that we'll be able to hang out in the garden and enjoy the season. One of these lovely afternoons coincidentally fell on the same days as our ordinary club-evening, and this Tuesday Heine suggested we could host it in his garden instead.

There were not so many trains this afternoon, but Heine's son brought and operated his 1:24 scale radio controlled tanks. They're pretty close to 'G-scale':

Being autumn this afternoon soon turned into 'night'. - But a really atmospheric one:

The BBQ-season is quite not over yet:

This was one of my favorite captures of the day:

  1. A grand day out. Can you tell us a little about the tanks?

    1. I'd love to. I don't know which company which made them, but they're made to 1:24 scale. So they're slightly 'under scale' for LGB's narrow gauge stock which is 1:22,5 scale, but still pretty close. Even if the tanks are 'under scale' for my 1:19 scale trains, they're still so 'big' that they can't be loaded to any flatcars. I wonder if there ever was a prototype cor transporting tanks on narrow gauge railways?

The tanks them selves are radio controlled and are equipped with engine and gun sound and lights. They run very well, even trough the 'high' grass. The tank with the brown camouflage pattern in the first photo is a German WW2 Tiger 1 tank. The 2 others are modern German Leopard 2 A7 tanks. So the Tiger 1 is the most periodical 'correct' for the trains we were running on Tuesday. Than you for reading and commenting Alan.

    1. We'll have to make the best out of the nice evenings, as rain is more typical to this season. Thank you for reading and commenting.
