Last year I wanted to see if it was possible to play the commercial wargame 'Bolt Action' by Warlords on a budget. Even if I managed to play a very basic game of 'Bolt Action' for free, I concluded the Battle Report with that I was really going to consider to use $$ to buy the rulebook.
After Bolt Action 3rd edition was published this autumn, I've been looking around for 2nd edition rulebooks 'on sale' to keep it within my 'budget approach' on wargaming. Here the other day I coincidentally visited the website to Moss TabletopBattle, which is located close to where I live, which had 'Bolt Action 2nd edition' on a 90% discount, and on sale for only £ 3,50/ $4,4/ € 4,25 (!)
I don't think I will find a brand new copy for anything less than that, so this was a no brainer.
Great bargain and welcoming people. Great to hear.

What a nice read! I think you'll like Bolt Action. For my part, I love the game and it was actually what made me take up the hobby of tabletop games again, something that has now lasted since 2014.
ReplyDeleteBefore that it was mostly Warhammer (1992 onwards) and then Flames of War (up to version 3) but Bolt Action is definitely my favorite game :)
Tack så mycket!
DeleteI briefly tried Bolt Action with regular Army Men back in 2023 (based on the quick reference sheet and several YouTube videos) and liked it. It will be interesting to read the fully rules and I will defiantly play them again. I won't exclude the possibilities that this may be the start on something new within my wargaming hobby...
Excellent score! And it sounds like you found a great shop. I've been scouring eBay for 2nd ed. and the best I've found so far is $12 USD, but it is still far less than it was just a few months ago before the 3rd ed release.
ReplyDeleteI think $12 is still a bargain for these rules. I think it will be interesting to read them and fully try them out. This may be the start on 'something new'.
